2022 Subaru Forester Review

The 2022 Forester comes with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower. This engine produces consistent power for merging and passing on the highway. It also delivers a composed, balanced ride thanks to its Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The Forester can tow up to 1,500 pounds when properly equipped. To help you carry that cargo and deal with inclement weather, Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive comes standard. Several other features enhance its capability, including its 8.7-inch ground clearance, X-MODE®, a Traction Control System for different trail conditions, and Hill Descent Control to prevent rollback on steep inclines.

The Forester provides seating for five people in spacious, comfortable seats. The front and rear seats have ample head and legroom for adults to stretch out and relax. The outward visibility in the Forester is excellent, giving the cabin an airy feel. Several features enhance the interior comfort, such as a panoramic power moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and reclining rear seats.

With the seats upright, the Forester base model has 28.9 cubic feet of cargo space. With the seats folded down, the maximum cargo space is 74.2 cubic feet. In every model above the base trim, the Forester has 26.9 cubic feet of space when the seats are up and 69.1 cubic feet when the seats are folded down.

The Forester includes vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian crash prevention systems as standard features, making it one of the safest vehicles on the road. All models come with a Rear-seat Reminder System, which lets you know if you have a pet or child in the back seat. Subaru EyeSight® is also included. This system helps prevent accidents with driver assist technology, such as:

A DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System is optional, which alerts you if you exhibit signs of fatigue so you can take a break. Every Forester model comes with the intuitive STARLINK® infotainment system with a responsive touchscreen. The base model includes a 6.5-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone capability, which syncs with your phone for on-the-go music and entertainment. Bluetooth® connectivity, HD Radio™, and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio are also included.

You can always upgrade to a larger 8-inch touchscreen, which includes a navigation system and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. Plus, to enjoy superior sound quality, a Harman Kardon® premium sound system is also available.
